If you have chips, stains, or minor gaps in your teeth, then you may be self-conscious about them. Many people don’t like these dental flaws, often looking for ways to fix them. Search no further than veneers! This treatment can help cover a wide range of imperfections that may bother you. It uses thin shells that are placed on the front of your teeth, but will they feel weird? Here’s what you should expect.

What Does It Feel Like to Get Veneers?

Veneers are done in two appointments. The first one is your dentist preparing your teeth. They’ll remove a small amount of your enamel to ensure your results look seamless and sit flush with the rest of your smile. You’ll be properly numb before starting, so you shouldn’t have much, if any, pain. Many people say they experience some pressure instead!

When this process is done, you’ll have impressions taken. This model of your teeth will be sent to a dental lab. A technician will then craft your veneers out of a high-quality material, oftentimes it’s porcelain. It takes about a couple of weeks for them to perfect these custom shells. In the meantime, you’ll have a temporary set placed. These can help you trial run your new smile to see how it will look. You may notice they are still comfortable but feel a bit bulky.

How Will My Permanent Veneers Be?

Once your dentist gets your final veneers back, you’ll be back to have them bonded on. Right after your appointment, you are good to show off your renewed grin! It’s normal and expected to have some minor sensitivity for a couple of days afterward. It should go away after a short while, and then your results should feel comfortable and just like natural!

However, if you got this treatment to change the shape of your teeth, then it takes a couple of weeks to get used to them. They will still look great and fit into your smile without any worries, but you may feel them a bit more. Your tongue may even bump into them on occasion!

Although you might’ve thought veneers would feel odd, keep in mind they often fit seamlessly into smiles. Many people say they don’t even notice a difference when eating or talking! Instead, you’ll be able to revel in the confidence that comes from having a perfect set of teeth you love.
