Wisdom Tooth Extraction Grand Prairie

Removing Problem-Causing Teeth for Good

Teenagers and young adults between ages 16 and 25 are the most common demographic of patients receiving wisdom tooth extractions. As these third molars erupt in the back of the mouth, they usually only partially push through the gums or remain impacted beneath the gumline. These teeth also have the potential to cause problems later on in life. All of that said, instead of your child feeling nervous or uncomfortable about the removal process, Dr. Vo is here to create a safer, easy-going environment so that they can get the care they need without any fear!

The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process

Extracting wisdom teeth first requires Dr. Vo to closely review digital scans of the mouth’s anatomy to determine the current status of each tooth. Not only will we evaluate whether they are above or below the gumline, but also the general health of the teeth, gums, and other oral structures.

If a simple procedure is all that’s required, we’ll use dental forceps and a dental elevator to lift the tooth out and move it back and forth until it no longer remains in place.

If the tooth is impacted and cannot be seen, we will perform a surgical procedure to open the gums and carefully remove the underlying tooth to avoid further harming the bone.
